Every year, after the holiday season, I fall into a “winter slump”... and then I remember, it’s almost Galentine’s Day!
Typically celebrated the day before Valentine’s day on February 13th (although, the team at The Scrunchie Club thinks it’s appropriate to celebrate anytime in February), Galentine’s Day is a celebration of female, non-binary, or gender non-confirming friendship. It’s a time to remind your friends how great they are and how much you appreciate them.
Galentine’s Day was originated on the television show Parks and Recreation by (fictional character) Leslie Knope. We think Leslie says it best…
As we navigate through an ongoing pandemic, we’re not able to gather in large groups. However, there are still plenty of ways you can celebrate Galentine’s Day this year!
Keep reading for some of our favorite ideas for Galentine’s Day 2021!
(Spoiler alert: this list does not include a zoom happy hour… we’re leaving those in 2020.)
Is there anything more exciting than an unexpected package? We think 2021 is the perfect year to gift some sneaky scrunchies with our Secret Galentine program!
Through February 13th, 2021, use code GALENTINES for free Galentine’s Day gift wrapping on all orders. We’ll send these galentines to your besties without revealing the identity of their Secret Galentine. 😉
Then, on Galentine’s Day, you can reveal yourself as their Secret Galentine! This is a wonderful opportunity to show a friend that you’ve been thinking of them, especially if you haven’t seen each other in a long time because of the pandemic.
If you’d like to include a handwritten note with your gift, just leave it in the notes section of your order. We recommend ordering before February 7th for delivery prior to February 13th.
This one might need an explanation if you’ve never seen Legally Blonde 2. With a traditional snap cup, people will anonymously write compliments about their peers, dropping them into the snap cup. Then they are read aloud to the group to foster positive vibes!
Since we’ll be celebrating virtually, an anonymous Google Form is a worthy alternative. Then you can gather on a Zoom with your favorite snacks and share - warm fuzzies for everyone!
Sometimes you just gotta say it in writing… A handwritten letter is a great way to show your friends how much you mean to them. You can find plenty of Galentine’s Day cards on Etsy, or make your own card, but it’s the words you write that hold the most power.
While you can’t gather together in a large group, Galentine’s Day is the perfect reason to throw a virtual movie marathon. Fire up that group text, or use a streaming platform that has a “Watch Party” feature (like Amazon or Hulu) and dedicate a Sunday to your favorite movies focused on friendship.
